How about ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~? – Smiddle 21:22, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

:~~~~ is already a button at the top of the textarea, but if people think it's also beneficial Computer codeto have ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~ at the bottom, then it can be added. G.He(Talk!) 21:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

some tags

There these are my suggestion as i got use to the one i made on my wiki now it drives me mad when i have to be typing them down here at central.

  • <pre></pre>
  • <code></code>
  • <includeonly></includeonly>
  • <noinclude></noinclude>

The following i don't use that much or very rare times here at central but are more like typing saving stuff

  • [[Category:]]
  • <ref></ref>
  • <references/>
  • <gallery></gallery>

--Cizagna (Talk) 06:37, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Don't forget <nowiki></nowiki>. And what about the old ~~~~ to get people to sign. ~Dantman(talk) tricks May 9, 2007 @ 07:21 (UTC)
Actually, most of these would probably work better as custom edit buttons (and many such buttons are already uploaded to central). The advantage of these, is you can add them yourself. And if/when we get globalcssjs again, you can have your own custom edit buttons globally. If after all this you two still want some of these in edittools just on central, let us know. --Splarka (talk) 08:13, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't use the custom edit buttons. I never use any of those buttons. It's harder for me to associate the image with the code when I'm used to the code. It would take me some time to figure out what button to use, while I can instantly see what I'm looking for with the Edittools buttons. Plus those buttons usually come with some default text, more often than not they only serve to annoy a bit (Occasionally I accidentally click on one and insert a bunch of text I just half to delete) if I were do do anything with those buttons in my global styles it would be to use a { display: none; } in my personal style. ~Dantman(talk) tricks May 9, 2007 @ 08:32 (UTC)
You can disableate them in your preferences ^_^. --Splarka (talk) 10:22, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Well yeah... i know i can do it my self, but then why do we even bother to keep this then? if every thing can be set a button and have it all hanging on the top... in those terms this Edittool pages should be deleted as it has no other use. Any good reason to keep it? well yeah it could be keep as an alternative way to show how to do the stuff... but then we fall in the same, what are the chances e toque button option for? as they can do it their self... and isn't pre, code, noinclude, and includeonly common tags that will be use in Central Wikia, as i see as useful the symbols "Insert: – — … ° ≈ ≠ ± − × ÷ ← → · § " as the category, reference and gallery tags. My focus is what is useful to the Central Wikia. --Cizagna (Talk) 14:17, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Bah, fine. Added. --Splarka (talk) 23:48, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

A space is missing between id and class in id="editpage-specialchars"class="plainlinks" and causes my custom CharInsert extension not to display :S --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) -@WikiDex 11:28, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Fixed. G.He(Talk!) 16:36, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

More specific edit tools

The edit tools should have a more easier-to-use version such as this one:

Your changes will be visible immediately.

== Commenting ==[1]

I sometimes need to comment thing on central. Adding <charinsert><!--+--></charinsert> might be usefull to others too. There's many things i would ad but think you dont want to clutter up the edit tool section. On the french guild wars wikia we have a pretty big one (Edittools) but i've set the copyright warning to not show on my personnel css there. Anyway, if button for commenting would be wiser, then so be it. ;-) TulipVorlax 04:27, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Please add {{}} | [] [[]] because a Macintosh-User doesn't have such keys. Greetings Tomsen (talk)13:30, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

| needed

Why isn't there | in the Edittools on Central? Probably the most used thing on any Wikia and as far as I know you can't find it on a keyboard.

WHLfan (talk to me!) 20:40, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

It is above the backspace on many keyboards, but it has a gap in the middle just to confuse some users (and to distinguish from "I").

Buttons

I like the buttons because, unlike edittools, they are usually accessible without scrolling (though there are only about five that I use often). I would be really pleased to see more buttons, such as the "category", "includeonly", "noinclude", "pre", and "table" buttons on French Central; not a huge number though! And {{subst:}} would be useful as an edittool for wikis where a big proportion of what I do is welcoming newbies. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 03:14, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Unlike edittools, you could add buttons for you using JavaScript. See w:c:help:Help:Custom edit buttons. PD: Have in mind Special:ProblemReports/16921 --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) -WikiDex 16:12, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Please add the hash symbol to Central Wikia

My PC died on me and I've been borrowing a Mac Laptop. There is no hash symbol on that laptop and I've been forced to use the #REDIRECT [[]] shortcut and then delete the stuff I don't want to use. (I'm sure there is a shortcut for this, but I'm also sure that there will be other Mac users who don't know the shortcut.)

Some wikis seem to have more stuff in the edit tools than other wikis. As far as I can see this stuff doesn't really bother a wiki, so it would be nice if it could be given maximum usability and then automatically rolled out to all the Wikia wikis.

I suppose that individual wiki owners might want to add their own stuff, but if there could be something like a subpage for local additions, the central stuff could be updated periodically. David Shepheard 12:04, October 18, 2009 (UTC)

How about a <br/>?

While it is on many of the wikis I use, I'd find having a <br/> button helpful for when there are long lists of things I am writing, so I wouldn't have to write it over and over. Helloher (Death is not my phone number) 18:33, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

<br/> should ve avoided in favour of more elegant styles, like bulleted lists. --Ciencia Al Poder (talk) -WikiDex 20:34, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
I'm not talking about actual lists, I'm referring to lists of things in templates and similar, where <br/> is used. Helloher (Death is not my phone number) 20:56, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Pokémon

I think we might need to use this accent for use near the Pokémon Wiki. If there's a problem on that Wiki, it is better to use the é as several page's on the Wiki have it in the title, and as far as I'm concerned, I, for one thing, cannot be bothered - as well as several other editor's - to pick it up straight from either the Pokémon Wiki itself or the Character Map. So I recommend the accent should be added the tool-box.--User:Launchballer/Signature 16:11, February 5, 2010 (UTC)

Countdown Clock

Hey! I was wondering if you could make a code for countdown clocks. Animal Crossing Leader My Wikia

What does that have to do with this page? --Uberfuzzy<staff /> 22:39, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Usage of Tabber

While using tabber looks great in monobook, it seems it won't work in the wikia skin...
Any help or advice?
